Elbit Systems has completed a successful series of flight evaluations of its Skylark unmanned air vehicle for an undisclosed potential customer, believed to be the Chilean army. The hand-launched design was deployed from the top of a mountain at 13,800ft (4,200m) on one flight, during which it climbed to a cruise altitude of over 15,000ft before performing an automatic landing. The flight tests also included day and night operations of the design in temperatures up to +50°C.
