LAST WEEK'S PICTURE

Spaceflight pic of week 30 June 2006

“Look Valery, it is very simple. You take the square root of the mass of the spacecraft multiplied by the gravitational constant divided by the sum of the mass of the spacecraft and the Earth multiplied by the radius of orbit.”
Nick Moss, Brisbane, Australia.

Thanks to Nick Moss, in Brisbane for correctly guessing last weeks image. Thanks to all of the other readers who suggested an explanation.

Last week’s image shows Valery Bykovsky and Sigmund Jähn inscribing their autographs on the landing ship, having returned from a visit to the orbital research complex, consisting of Salyut 6, Soyuz 29 and Soyuz 31 a week earlier.
