Spirit Airlines is seeking detailed proposals from cities that want its low-fare service. The airline say it will use the proposals to select up to 10 new routes from its Fort Lauderdale hub and up to three new US gateway airports.

Spirit wants details on local markets, local demand and above all on public-private partnerships, including airport incentives. But the Florida-based carrier stresses that it is not looking for deals from cities but for market opportunities. "Spirit is particularly interested in cities that are underserved by their existing air service, whose fares are overpriced, and cities that have the ability to provide a low cost of doing business."
