Not everyone who exhibits at Farnborough jets in from overseas or travels hundreds of miles along the motorway network.

Just ask that chaps at Stahlwille Tools who base their operations a mere stone's throw from the showground in nearby Camberley.

As the company name may suggest, there is a foreign influence behind Stahlwille - the parent company has its roots in Dusseldorf while Camberley is home to the British subsidiary.

Stahlwille, which can be found in Hall 3/D15, supplies tool control systems to some of the biggest names in the aviation world, with British Airways, British Aerospace, Saab and Rolls-Royce already on the order book.

"Our tool kits are designed so that they can be audited before and after take off," says managing director Mike Pearson.

"Every piece of equipment is itemised and can be traced back to its particular box. We've taken the concept one step further by designing a portable kit for BAe which is compact, secure and robust enough to be transported by air."

Stahlwille's initial version of the Tool Control System was recognised for its quality with an award at the 1995 Paris Air Show.
