Syrian Arab Airlines is expecting to finalise an order for seven Airbus aircraft, including three A330s, as soon as the end of this year.
The carrier is phasing out its ageing Boeing 727s and 747SPs (show below) and intends to acquire three Airbus A330s and four A321s.

Speaking during the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) conference in Sana’a, Yemen, chairman and CEO of Syrian Arab Airlines, Nachaat Numir said the details of the contract had been finalised with Airbus.
While the airline has not fixed a date to place the order, Numir says that the contract is “on final” and that he is optimistic of a deal by the end of 2005.
No details of engine choice have been disclosed.
Numir says the carrier expects to take delivery of the aircraft, beginning with a pair of A321s, about 12-15 months after an order is signed.
Syrian Arab Airlines is already an Airbus narrowbody operator with half a dozen A320 twin-jets.
