Canadian carrier WestJet intends to equip its fleet of on-order Boeing 787 and 737 Max jets with Recaro seats.

The German manufacturer says it will supply its CL3710 long-haul economy seat for 10 Dreamliners, while the same number of Max jets are to be fitted with CL4710 business- and BL3520 economy-class seats.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2018. The deals spans a total of 4,700 seats.

Flight Fleet Analyzer shows that Calgary-based WestJet has on order 10 787-9s, 23 737-7s, 14 737-8s and 12 737-10s.

Six 737-8s are already in service with the carrier, alongside 114 737NGs and four 767-300ERs.

West executive vice-president Tim Croyle cites the Recaro seats' "intelligent design and fast delivery time" as factors in the selection.

The seats can be equipped with in-flight entertainment systems, Recaro notes.

WestJet previously selected Recaro seats for its entire 737NG fleet and installed a Panasonic IFE system.
