AgustaWestland executives met with Brazilian entrepreneurs and politicians last week for further negotiations on setting up an AgustaWestland subsidiary in Brasilia. The move is part of the company's efforts to secure a strong position in the flourishing South American helicopter market.

Brazilian sources say AgustaWestland is proposing a production line to manufacture the A119 Koala and A109 Power helicopters.

AgustaWestland's interest is based on Brazil's thriving rotary-wing market. With an annual growth rate of 8%, the number of helicopters registered in Brazil stands at 923. Sao Paulo boasts the world's largest urban helicopter fleet, with over 400 machines.
