Airborne digital media specialist TEAC America (Hall 2, B4) announced two major orders on the eve of the show.

Eurocopter France has contracted TEAC to supply its MDR-87 solid-state mission data recorder for Australia's AIR-87 Tiger combat helicopter programme.

Australia will receive single line-replaceable units each supporting three video channels and one data channel. Applications will include the downloading of information for intelligence, debriefing and training purposes.

TEAC already supplies recorders for a number of Australian military aircraft, including the General Dynamics F-111C, Boeing F/A-18, Lockheed Martin P-3, Kaman SH-2G and Sikorsky SH-60.

Air France and All Nippon Airways have respectively ordered TEAC digital video disc (DVD) players and DVD file servers. Both systems are making their Farnborough debut.

The French carrier is to install its units in an Airbus A320 fleet operated for a head of state.

All Nippon is the first airline to install the TEAC DVD server on a Boeing 747-400, and will also be launch customer for TEAC's new solid-state audio reproducer. The later system will be used to deliver MP3 music in the cabin.
