New Thai Airways International president Apinan Sumanaseni is making the domestic market a major focus of attention and intends to launch a new carrier to fill what he sees as a gap between full-service Thai Airways and low-cost offerings such as its associate Nok Air.
Apinan Sumanaseni, who officially took over as president in May, says a subsidiary airline is to be established called Euarng Luang. Details are vague, but Thai says Euarng Luang may also serve nearby countries such as Laos.
Thai has also agreed a tie-up with Bangkok Airways that is expected to include codesharing to secondary destinations, such as China. ■
