Lockheed Martin and Alenia have finalised a joint-venture agreement to develop and market the improved C-27J version of the Alenia G222. The Italian transport is being upgraded with Allison AE2100D2 turboprop engines and a new digital avionics suite to optimise system commonality with the Lockheed Martin C-130J. Lockheed Martin will provide engineering, marketing and product support.
