RUSSIAN AIRCRAFT-DESIGN BUREAU Tupolev unveiled the latest addition to its family of reconnaissance unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) in Moscow, the Tu-300 (centre). According to Tupolev, the UAV remains at the development stage, with only a few of this type having been built so far. Some suggest that the T-300 was originally intended to meet an air force requirement which has since been cut because of defence-expenditure reductions. The UAV shown was equipped with a nose-mounted camera, along with a thimble radome and centre-line pylon for carrying a pod. Also on display were the Tu-141 Strizh and Tu-243 Reyle-D, both of which have seen operational use.
