The North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) is set to spearhead the UK's presence at Aerospace North America and hopes to boost the business of the small companies it represents.

The NWAA is the largest regional aerospace grouping within the UK, representing over 750 companies in the region, which is one of the prime aerospace manufacturing areas in the world.

As Paris is the springboard into Europe, so Aerospace North America is the key stepping stone into the US and Canadian markets, according to NWAA chief executive John Whalley. "Our region has strong ties with Canada and North America going back to the 1950s. This continues through links between the larger manufacturers on projects like the T-45 Goshawk US Navy trainers and Britain's Nimrod maritime patroller.

"Our suppliers also benefit through involvement with Bombardier and Boeing. We see the extension of such global partnerships as the way forward and believe that this initiative will help more companies to gain worthwhile new business."

The showcase event takes place in Seattle in September.
