Reshaping of the general aviation (GA) avionics market continues, with UPS Aviation Technologies (UPSAT) receiving US certification for its full "stack" of panel-mounted equipment for light aircraft.
UPS AT is a newcomer to the GA market, and its avionics are fitted as standard on the new Lancair Columbia 300 light aircraft. Its equipment is also being installed in more than 130 aircraft as part of the US Federal Aviation Administration's Alaska Capstone free flight technology demonstration.
The Salem, Oregon-based company has gained certification for its SL15 audio panel, SL30 VHF nav/comm, SL70 Mode A/C transponder and GX-series of global positioning receivers. The latest to win approval is UPSAT's MX20 multifunction display. This flat-panel unit includes terrain-mapping, which issues an advisory of a possible ground impact within 2min by the aircraft.
