Members from the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are travelling to Guyana to investigate a Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737-800 that overran the runway at Cheddi Jagan International airport on 30 July.
The Boeing 737-800 - 9YPBM - was enroute from Trinidad to Guyana when it overran the runway on landing. The aircraft's fuselage subsequently broke in two.

Preliminary information from Guyana's Civil Aviation Authority indicated there was one passenger seriously injured, the board stated. The aircraft was carrying 156 passengers and six crewmembers.
The accident occurred two days after Caribbean Airlines took delivery of its ninth Boeing 737-800.
Flighglobal's ACAS fleet database shows the accident aircraft was built in 2007 and powered by CFM56-7B26 engines. CIT Group is listed as the aircraft's owner.
NTSB's team consists of lead investigator Bob Benzon and seven staff with expertise in operations, meteorology, airworthiness and aircraft performance. Representatives from the US Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing are participating in the investigation.
