In days prior to the World Aviation Training conference opening, Canada's Mechtronix Systems announced that Lufthansa Flight Training (LFT) is adding a sixth Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) at its Bremen facilities. The newly ordered FSTD, to become operational in December 2011, will be configured as a Cessna Citation CJ1+ and used, as are the other five units LFT acquired in the past three years, for initial training of Lufthansa's cadet pilots. The CessnaCJ1+ FSTD offers visual fidelity through a high standard RSI Image Generator and a 220-degree X 40-degree-wide field of view and, for added realism, a specific airport database. The device features a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 suite and advanced avionics such as as EGPWS and weather radar.
According to Mechtronix, German aviation authorities are evaluating the device for dual qualification, JAR FSTD A FNPT II-MCC and FNPT II.
