UK airspace service provider National Air Traffic Services (NATS) will close its West Drayton facility near Heathrow in 2007 and shift 500 operational staff to its Swanwick centre in Hampshire as part of its move to a two-centre strategy. NATS currently controls aircraft flying in UK airspace from four centres - Swanwick, Prestwick, West Drayton and Manchester - but plans to consolidate its operations around Swanwick and Prestwick by the spring of 2010.
