German carrier Air Berlin's executive board and senior managers are foregoing half of their bonus payments for the 2008 financial year. Air Berlin - which is expecting a "positive operating result" for 2008 - says board members will effectively be giving up 25% of their annual income, while senior managers will be giving up about 10% - and contributing €2 million ($2.5 million) to the bottom line. Air Berlin is to disclose its full-year figures on 30 March.

South African Airways set up a task force to combat drug trafficking after an entire crew was arrested following discovery of cocaine in hand luggage at London Heathrow, where cannabis did for another 15 crew members in January. Then, SAA appointed the forensic unit of accounting firm KPMG to check into alleged conflicts of interest, procurement issues and retention premiums, after putting chief executive Khaya Ngqula on "special leave".
