BOEING Members of the IAM machinists union, which represents about 2,500 St Louis area Boeing workers, ratified a revised contract offer including a $5,000 lump sum and 3% annual wage rises starting in the second year. After an earlier rejection and strike authorisation vote by members, Boeing removed language that would have dropped an employee's dependent health care coverage if a member was on medical leave for longer than six months.

DOMESTIC FLIGHTS BMI is moving away from intra-UK flying to focus on "more profitable" international routes. Chief executive Wolfgang Prock-Schauer told investors: "It's extremely difficult - I'd even have to say impossible - in the current situation to make money domestically, and a lot of [our] losses are coming from domestic. We have a certain slot portfolio and you cannot change overnight. But the tendency will clearly be to move out of domestic."
