EADS subsidiary Aerolia is to supply a Bombardier programme for the first time, one of a series of programme partners for the Global 7000 and 8000 announced this morning.
The French aerostructures specialist will build the centre fuselage of the longer-range extensions to the Global business jet family. It is Aerolia's first significant order win outside Airbus.
Other partners are Triumph Industries' Vought Aircraft division, an existing Bombardier supplier, which will be responsible for the wing, while Bombardier's own factories will manufacture the forward and rear fuselage, empennage and fairings.
On the systems side, Hamilton Sundstrand will supply the auxiliary power unit, wing high-lift system and electrical systems. Zodiac subsidiary Intertechnique will provide oxygen and fuel systems.
Christian Cornille, chief executive of Aerolia, said competition to secure the Bombardier deal had been "tough", but he believes broadening customers beyond Airbus is crucial to the Toulouse-based business's strategy. "Diversification is key," he said.
The General Electric-powered Global 7000 and Global 8000 - additions to the Global 5000 and 6000 family - go into service in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
