Etihad Airways has signed a frequent flyer agreement with American Airlines, following its earlier codeshare deal with the US carrier.
Under the deal the two carriers' frequent flyers will be able to earn points on each airline's network.
The carriers plan to expand the agreement later in 2011 to include mileage redemption across their networks.
Etihad and American forged a codeshare deal in August 2009, which delivers a combined codeshare network of more than 50 destinations worldwide.
