The US Federal Aviation Administration has fined Republic Airways Holdings subsidiary Lynx Aviation $350,000 for operating a Bombardier Q400 while the aircraft was not in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
FAA alleges Lynx failed to complete and document inspections of a replaced engine hydraulic pump on 17 April 2010, which was required by the company's general maintenance manual before an aircraft is returned to service.
The agency concludes Lynx operated 177 revenue flights from the date of work through 26 May 2010, when an FAA safety inspector discovered the violations.
FAA alleges Lynx had four opportunities to detect the missing inspection report and conduct and document the inspection, "but failed to catch the problem through its own safety processes".
