Moyola Precision Engineering (H2/B15), the Northern Ireland-based aerospace manufacturer, is celebrating being the first company from the province to win the Supply Chains for the 21st Century (SC21) Silver award, a scheme run by UK aerospace and defence organisation ADS.
The company - part of the UK pavilion - was presented with the award by Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson, ADS chief executive Rees Ward and Colin Elliott, vice-president engineering of Bombardier in Belfast, one of Moyola's customers.
To achieve an SC21 Silver award, a company must achieve a delivery success rate between 95% and 99% and quality between 99.5% and 99.9%.
Robinson said: "This prestigious award is a major achievement for Moyola and for the local aerospace and defence industries, which are strategically important for Northern Ireland. Receiving UK-wide recognition of its capabilities will enable Moyola to take advantage of new business opportunities and to compete on a global platform. The Northern Ireland Executive has been working hard to promote Northern Ireland expertise to new markets around the world. Today's award demonstrates the high quality of service that customers can expect."
