Reports are emerging that a Let L-410 turboprop operated by Brazilian regional carrier Noar has crashed in the northeastern part of the county.
The accident occurred shortly after takeoff from Guararapes-Gilberto Freyre International airport in Recife, according Channel 6 news based in Recife.
Citing a statement by the Brazilian Air Force, the outlet stated the plane declared an emergency and the crew said it would attempt to land at Boa Viagem beach.
The plane reportedly crashed into a vacant lot around 0651 local time, with 16 reportedly on board.
Noar launched operations in June 2009, and in September 2010 forged a partnership with Brazil's leading low cost carrier Gol.
