GKN Aerospace has won a five-year extension from Lockheed Martin for engine nacelles support for C-130J military transports, valued at around £280 million ($452 million).

"GKN Aerospace is scheduled to supply 37 full aircraft nacelle sets this year, almost doubling previous annual production rates. The company expects to supply 158 nacelles, including spares, during the remainder of this year and is confident of delivering 2000 nacelles by 2018," said the manufacturer.

To offset the growing production rates, GKN intends to triple its C-130J assembly line staff by the end of 2011.
