Portuguese carrier TAP has opted to send a series of Airbus A330s/A340s to Rio de Janeiro for heavy checks.
TAP is the controlling shareholder of TAP Maintenance and Engineering Brazil, and the carrier states that the first check has been completed, and delivered on 10 October.
The check, which lasted 13 days, ended one day before the scheduled deadline, says TAP, "assuring the turn-around-time agreed upon by the companies".
The carrier says the maintenance programme will run through mid-February, with a short break in December "in order to make better commercial use of the aircraft".
TAP Engineering and Maintenance recently concluded an agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada to overhaul PW100 and PT6A engines at its Porto Alegre facility.
