US Airways recently broadened offerings under its programme allowing customers to pay for certain seat selections to cover emergency row seating.

The carrier debuted "Choice Seats" in 2008, and at that time passengers could only purchase a preferred seat selection at check-in.

Pricing for exit row seating will range from $9-$99 depending on flight length, said US Airways in a regular employee update.

"Unlike other Choice Seats that are available during time of purchase, exit row seats are only available for purchase online or at the airport within 24h prior to departure," the carrier stated.

In 2010 US Airways said it collected more than $21 million in Choice Seat revenues, and the carrier is working to sell the product through global distribution and travel services company Sabre beginning in the second quarter of 2012.
