Virgin Atlantic plans to begin flights between London Gatwick and Cancun, Mexico on 12 June 2012.
The carrier will operate twice-weekly service on the route using Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
The new route is expected to deliver around $25 million of tourism revenue to the Cancun market annually and to create up to 650 jobs within Mexico's aviation and tourism sectors, said Virgin Atlantic.
According to Innovata schedules, Virgin Atlantic will compete with British Airways on the London Gatwick-Cancun route.
